How do I set the Email Subject?

No other part of your query package is more likely to be overlooked than the email subject line. It’s just a subject line, after all. How important could it be?


As it turns out, very important. The email subject line may seem like something to gloss over, but is actually a crucial part of your query.


Literary agents get lots of email. Lots and lots of email. To help manage the load, many will set filters to sort the incoming mail, using the subject line to send the email to the right folder. 

How do you ensure your subject line gets your email into the correct folder?

To edit your Email Subject:

  1. Select the project from the sidebar
  2. Select "Query Template" in the sidebar
  3. Expand the "Add Email Subject" section
  4. Enter your default email subject text
  5. Click the "Submit Query Template" button at the bottom of the page
