What Is Block Formatting?

Emails aren’t always easy for agents to read.

Despite authors’ best efforts, formatting email text in web editors is notoriously difficult. What looks good in the text editor may not always look the same in emails, resulting in text that can be difficult for agents to follow.

Block formatting solves this problem by removing troublesome stylings. Block formatting queries have:

  • Left-aligned text
  • No indentations
  • Blank lines between paragraphs

How Does Querier Handle Block-Formatting?

Querier will automatically block-format all email text, ensuring your submission is easy on the eyes of each agent you contact. When creating Gmail drafts and emails, Querier will:

  • left-align all text
  • remove indentations
  • double-space between paragraphs
  • do its best to maintain bold, italic, and underlined stylings

What About Attachments?

Block formatting is not used in attachments. Agents expect attachments to be styled per industry standards, which means you’ll need to do your research to determine best how to format.

When creating your query template, style your query letter, synopsis, outlines, etc. with attachments in mind. Indent, space, and align text as necessary to meet agent expectations. Querier will honor your formatting when making attachments, but will apply block formatting when using the same text in emails.
